Tula B - September 13th

B Team Guys: 14 + an injured Sticks.

Announcements:
  • Read the announcements from Peter's A team post.
  • In general, it's a good idea to read the A team reviews, because you'll learn a lot. Reading Peter's blog probably isn't a bad idea either.
  • Let us know on the BBS whether you're coming to Easterns.

Review:
  • Introduction of the B team and your captains: Sticks (Adam), James, and myself.
  • Lotto
  • Flying V
    • High completion rate.
    • Need to concentrate on cutting back hard.
    • Continue cut through the disc.
    • If you slow down or stop to make the catch, your defender will get the disc.
  • Throw for Scores (huck drill).
    • Highest completion rate I've seen from a B team on day one. We saw some great throws and catches.
    • Throws need to be flat.
    • Run straight down the field, not into the sideline.
    • Throw down the field to space, rather than throwing across the field at a hard angle.
    • Focus on footwork. For righties: do not step with your left foot. For lefties: do not step with your right foot.
  • Open-side 45s
    • Throws were generally good. Focus on not throwing too hard, keeping it flat, and putting it around your receiver's chest level.
    • Cutters sometimes seemed confused.
    • Even though we were giving the open side, marks should still be intense.
  • Names
    • I suck at these.

Overall, we were very impressed by the level this year. We've got a lot of athleticism and great throws. Now it's only a question of team-work and chemistry.

Tom
