Guys: 22 + 3 observing

Announcements:
  • Make sure Taylor has your e-mail to add you to the contact list. Phone number might also be useful in case we need to contact you.
  • Tryouts will be extended until Tuesday. This will allow late comers to be seen. We will have breakfast at Hart House following Tuesday tryouts. We will post the teams here by Tuesday night.
  • Tournaments:
    • Sept 22-23 - Ottawa for Easterns (both A and B)
    • Oct 12, 13, and 14 - Vancouver for Nationals (unlikely B team will go)
Tryout review:
  • Warmup
  • Lotto - Dump drill, Threeman, and Berkeley. I'll get into more details later about these drills. The key lesson today was you need to really go fast to get done within the 10 minute time limit. Also, consider doing the drill in the above order.
  • Suicide Threeman - Did 3 sets of five to wear guys out. Looked like a good effort, but horrible throws and completion rate. Kirk talked about leading throwers with soft throws that they can run onto. I also would consider better fakes.
  • Scrimmage A - Game to 3. White goes down 2-0 and comes back to win 3-2.
  • Scrimmage B - Game to 3. White goes up 2-0. Dark gets 1, 2-1. White wins 3-1. Dark couldn't get the hucks to open up the game against whites under defense.
Notes:
  • Good start.
  • Tryouts are about showing what you have. See the following posts: 1, 2, 3.
